Position Title: Prevention & Education Liaison

Reports to: Prevention and Education Manager
Key Relationships: STAR staff, ASD Staff, and Students
Position Summary: Provides support services to Prevention and Education department
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
Proficient in MS word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of sexual assault and related topics a plus.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks. 
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Must be able to work with team-based decision making processes, and have the ability to identify and problem solve. 
Must possess the ability to work with culturally diverse clients and staff. 
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Special note:
Must be able to work independently and be self-directed.
Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license and insured vehicle.
Attend a 40-hour crisis line training within 6 six months
Attend Green Dot Bystander Training and STAR Ally Training

 Level of Responsibility:
Maintains contacts of a confidential nature throughout the agency and outside the agency.  May be required to use independent judgment in interpreting agency rules and policies.

Job Responsibilities & Duties:
Support daily administrative duties.
Proficient in STAR K-6 curriculum, present as needed.
Perform data entry and work on miscellaneous administrative tasks as assigned.
Assist in carrying out the goals and objectives of STAR and assist in maintaining liaison relationships with the Anchorage support community.
Maintain accurate records and submit reports in a timely manner.
Represent STAR in a professional and courteous manner.


Position Title: Accountant

Reports to: Executive Director
Key Relationships: STAR staff, Executive Director, Foreaker group
Summary of Position:  Assist in managing and maintaining the day to day financial aspects of STAR.
Qualifications:  High School diploma required, background in accounting

Experience:
Financial management experience. 
Experience with QuickBooks, Excel, Word is preferred    
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Understand the principles of accounting and financial management.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks. 
Must be organized and detail oriented. 
Must be able to work with team-based decision making processes, and have the ability to identify and problem solve. 
Must possess the ability to work with culturally diverse clients and staff. 
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Job Responsibilities & Duties:
Act as liaison to the Foraker Group Shared Financial Services.
Manage STAR financials, donations and spending.
Prepare financial reports for STAR staff and STAR grantors.
Manage all aspects of accounts payable.


Position Title: Donation Procurement

Reports to: Development Director
Key Relationships: STAR staff, Board of Directors
Summary of Position:  Seeking individuals with outgoing personalities to reach out to current and new donors in person and over the phone.  Deliver proposals and donation letters to business owners and pick up donated items. Assist with annual fundraising efforts and events.
Qualifications: High school diploma required

Experience:
Donation Procurement
Experience with Constant Contact is preferred
Experience with QuickBooks, Excel, and Word   
Must be able to maintain information of a confidential nature; and
Represent STAR in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Graphic Design and Event planning a plus

Position Title: Court Watch Volunteer


Summary of Position:  Observe and document criminal court processes involving sexual assault, domestic violence and homicide cases within the Anchorage Courts.
Supervision:  This position will report to a Court Watch Coordinator, who is accountable to the STAR Executive Director.

Specific functions of the position:
Attend court hearings consistently
Attend trainings as scheduled
Document court proceedings
Provide feedback on data forms
Detail-oriented and precise
Able to debrief with supervisor
Be self-starting
Able to work productively alone
Thrive with minimal supervision
Able to support cohort volunteers

Minimum Qualifications:
  Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic understanding of the criminal legal system;
Must be able to contain expressions and  control reactions;
Must be willing and able to hear explicit details of violent crimes;
Must be able to maintain information of a confidential nature; and
Represent STAR in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

Preferred Relevant Experience: Courtroom, legislative or paralegal experience

 

Providing options, support and information to Alaskans affected by sexual violence for more than 35 years.

New Volunteer Opportunities for Seniors!


Are you over 55 and interested in volunteering at STAR?   Thanks to our new partnership with the Aleutian Pribilof Island Association any seniors who are interested in assisting STAR's efforts to educate Anchorage youth about personal safety or help with out community outreach efforts is eligible to have their mileage reimbursed as part of that national RSVP program.   


STAR is currently looking for volunteers interested in Education, Accounting, Donation Procurement and Court Watch positions.
