What’s Happening at STAR – Fundraising and Friend Raising!
Tea in the Garden
Thursday, July 12th 3:00p-6:00p
Call the office for more information.
STAR’s annual summer fundraiser, originated in 2006 by Katherine Renfro and Sheila Gallagher, has evolved into a tea about town in some of the most beautiful garden settings in Anchorage.
The “Tea” is an opportunity for guests to enjoy the weather (so far, so good), visit with friends and sip a cup of tea while enjoying petit fours and finger sandwiches.
Guests are asked to make a minimum donation (you need not attend to make your donation) and may bid on garden oriented silent auction items.
Please check STAR’s website events calendar in early summer for this year’s date. The Tea in the Garden is by invitation; if you would like to be included in our mailing, please, let us know by calling 907.276.7279.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)
April 2013
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Time and Date to be announced.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes began as an awareness event as a part of SAAM. As members of our community acknowledge that Alaska is consistently ranked number one nationally for sexual assault and child sexual abuse; this nation-wide event gives men the opportunity to “walk a mile in her shoes”. Men in our community stand up to say “no more” to sexual violence against women, men or children by donning high heels and walking a mile.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a fundraiser for STAR through pledges. If you would like to participate by gathering pledges to walk-the-walk for this unique fundraising opportunity in April 2013, give STAR a call in February at 907.276.7279.
Take Back the Night Speak-out
