In April of 2011 STAR received funding through the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault and the Governor’s “Alaska Men Choose Respect” campaign. The product of this funding was an initiative called the “Green Light Campaign.”
The Green Light Campaign focuses on teaching the legal aspects of sexual consent in a manner that is simple and easy to remember.
The model was developed from the STAR high school Education curriculum and incorporates a universally understood stop light image.
It is important to note that STAR does not discuss spiritual or moral issues when educating youth on sexual consent. Our focus is to simplify the Alaska statutes so that youth can both apply the law when making sexual choices as well as identify if a crime has occurred.
Participants receiving "Only Go on Green" information were provided this multi-tool green flashlight.
