Donations Make an Impact
As community awareness increases surrounding sexual assault issues, so does the demand for STAR’s 24-Hour Crisis line, Advocacy services and Educational programs. STAR continues to provide services throughout Alaska and relies on business and private donations to make this possible. All financial donations stay within the state of Alaska. Donors may request anonymity when making a contribution.
Last year, with donor support STAR provide direct services to 3,000 clients. Here is what a few participants had to say:
“STAR services really helped me better deal with what was happening to me.”
“That they cared so much about a stranger just like a friend or family member.”
“The support and referrals I received and the compassionate, calm way STAR staff dealt with my daughter and myself was definitely helpful.”
Thanks to investors like you, STAR Educators had the opportunity to present to more than 15,000 students in the Anchorage School District and surrounding areas. According to teacher evaluations from STAR’s In-School presentation program; 98% of the teachers felt their students learned skills that could help keep them safer, while 97% felt the students learned about the resources available to them if the need arose.
(Kindergarten) Very age appropriate, friendly”,
(2nd grade) “I found it helpful to have someone besides myself talk to the students about this important topic. Good, well organized presentation.”
(6th grade) “Message was clear and concise”,
(8th grade) “Did away with many of the myths.”, “Did a great job defining consent.”
(12th grade) “STAR Educator related to her audience well. She did a super job getting her students to open up and discuss a sensitive subject. Awesome job!!”
